The Influence of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on Canadian Jurisprudence in the First Decade Since its Ratification

Canada’s ratification of the United Nations Convention on Rights Persons with Disabilities [CRPD]in 2010 was met hope and excitement that it would lead to much-needed improvements in equality, inclusion accessibility for persons disabilities Canada. This paper explores impact CRPD has had Canadian jurisprudence decade since Canada ratified treaty. Our analysis indicates courts tribunals have employed a variety approaches CRPD, which we provide illustrative examples.
